Hybrid Cloud ?

For organisations not yet willing or able to make the leap into cloud-based voice services on a permanent basis, BT Group and Resilient Networks now offer companies the chance to route calls through the Cloud on an as-needed basis, without impacting the status quo the rest of the time.. This is great for companies who are comfortable with the traditional voice services they have in place today, but for events such as a business-continuity disruption may want to take advantage of the Cloud for more flexible and sophisticated call routing.
This service, known as BT Voice Continuity Directed Recovery, essentially provides organisations the benefits of a hybrid-cloud architecture.  In ‘normal’ mode calls flow through the traditional PSTN as usual, but should there be a business continuity event which denies staff access to offices or disrupts travel etc, then they can invoke a BT service to route calls instead via the BT SmartNumbers Cloud. Once calls are routed through the Cloud, then organisations can take advantage of the web-based portal for routing individual DDI’s, such as routing desk calls to mobile phones, home phones or business recovery sites.
This service is great alternative to companies who realise the benefits of Cloud-based voice services but who are not yet willing to jump in with both feet in order to achieve these benefits.  It’s likely that as the Cloud is adopted across many different business applications there will be many variants from the pure Cloud architecture that meet practical business needs, at low risk and a price point that the market is willing to pay.
A short video overview of this hybrid-Cloud service can be seen here: http://www.btsmartnumbers.com/services/resilience-and-connectivity/directed-recovery-demo.html
